Covers #music
Most covers suck. Sometimes they don't, though.
How very profound.
Hearing "I Won't Back Down" sung by 60+ year old Johnny Cash gives a new perspective on the song (or the world, as it may be). Hearing Johnny Cash sing U2's "One" is also a quite thrilling experience, in it's own way.
In the liner notes, Cash writes:
And later, doing the obligatory thank yous:I sat on the porch with Haggard and talked about the road. "I play Chattanooga tonight," he said. His bus waited just outside my gate while we recorded "I'm Leavin' Now." "Tell them I said hello." I'm glad I didn't have to go. "You'll be back out there," he said, with a slight grin. "We'll see," I said.
Johnny Cash - American III: Solitary Man. ⊗Thanks to Rick Rubin for continuing to believe in me. I don't sound as good to me as he says I do, but I thank him anyway."
