Waking up

"as an MSc student, living in Edinburgh, I found I would often sleep through my alarm. To address this, I would set a cron job to cat my kernel to my sound device at the time I wished to be awakened: cat /vmlinuz > /dev/dsp" - old noise.

Ok, while my alarm-clock did flake out on me yesterday, I certainly won't be going down that avenue!
