wvWare displays those nasty Word documents that people keep sending you. (Well, people don't keep sending me Word documents, since I sneer fiercely at them if they do...)

Speaking of wordprocessors, one of the upcoming Free ones is AbiWord - interview with Dominic Lachowicz.

Dr. Dobbs Journal and Michael Abrash has released his Graphics Programming Black Book for free download. The demand apparantly overwhelmed them, and they're trying to plan a distribution setup that will actually work now. How embarrasing for them.

IBM has made another clock that runs Linux! This one is smaller and, well, ahem, still not pretty.

How to comment, in excruciating detail…

To avoid spam many websites make you fill out a CAPTCHA, or log in via an account at a corporation such as Facebook, Google or even Microsoft GitHub.

I have chosen to use a more old school method of spam prevention.

  • Configure a newsreader¹ to connect to the server koldfront.dk on port 1119 using nntps (nntp over TLS).
  • Open the newsgroup called lantern.koldfront and post a follow up to the article.
