"It's a shame all open source doesn't use this reasonable "we give up control" license.", Dave Winer says. No! It's not a shame! Free software would never have gotten anywhere if the GPL didn't restrict people from taking the source, improving it, and keeping the improvements for themselves. One simple question: Why is Linux booming and *BSD still in the shadows?

Another Dave Winer quote, from the release of the MacBird sourcecode: "Further, the UI it uses is carefully coded to be compatible with the Macintosh user interface standard set in the early 1980s. It's the most familiar interface for designers and users." Really? The most familiar interface? I would like to see some documentation. It seems to be quite a bold statement...
