Oracle gratis version
Giant database-maker Oracle has (almost) released a gratis version of their database, called "Oracle Database 10g Express Edition".
Currently only a beta-version is available for download. To download it, you must agree to a BETA TRIAL LICENSE (lawyers seems to like ALL CAPS a lot) and you need to check five checkboxes related to export controls.
The text next to one of the checkboxes says:
"I am not listed on the United States Department of Treasury lists of Specially Designated Nationals, Specially Designated Terrorists, and Specially Designated Narcotic Traffickers, nor am I listed on the United States Department of Commerce Table of Denial Orders."
Update: Klaus found the links to the lists above. Oracle(s lawyers) couldn't be bothered to link til them, obviously.
I'm not on any of them, so Oracle can give me their software gratis now. But if I (wrongly) were, how easy would it be to correct the error, I wonder?
"Can I have the source with that, please?"
Oh well, better stick with Free Software.
