Without mentioning beating up a defective diskdrive and ending up scavenging a drive from another machine, wrestling a soundcard conflicting with the scsi-card (and removing the soundcard), old proprietary single speed cdrom-woes, guessing the address and irq of a scsi-controller, copying 3 cdroms to the harddisk of a portable and mounting the fourth in the portables cdrom-drive, installing over the wire, fun with the incompability of XDMCP-servers/clients between x86 and ppc-based systems and what-have-you. (Update: Actually "Mission accomplished", the report was. Plain and simple.)
Only on-site installation and making it actually work is left as an exercise for the author...
