Emailing the hotshots...

I read Jamie Zawinski's page om the GNU Emacs/Lucid Emacs RMS/Lucid controversy the other day. It's interesting to learn about those events. I even remember running Lucid Emacs on my first Linux-distribution: Yggdrasil :-)

To me it seems like RMS has some major problems with letting go of his "baby", Emacs - and even though he is advocating free software, the tone of his emails indicate that he's miffed about other people exercising the freedom.

It's all water under the bridge now, obviously, and I still admire RMS for his perseverance, but... Well, I guess There's a crack in everything, that's where the light gets in.

Where's this leading? Ahh, yes, the page has a whole bunch of emails from the discussion and one of them, I noticed, was duplicated. So I reported the "buglet" to jwz. And got a short reply.

While reading Peter Merholz' peterme I noticed that he's going to Copenhagen (for Reboot nonetheless...) and that he was asking for suggestions on what to see in Copenhagen. Not easy for someone who lives here, but I sent a couple of suggestions down the wire.

His email back was with quoting in Jeopardy style! Some of these new heroes of the www-world still need to learn the basics, obviously.

Fee-fie-foe fun for me!

So, I think I've finally managed to do what is a big part of this weblogging business: Serious namedropping. :-)
